Following God's will sounds easier than expected at times. In today's episode, we had a conversation TV Host Kayla Wanakee about her journey of surrendering to the Lord's will and leaning into therapy through the process.
Kayla Wanakee is an energetic host/journalist who has a heart for our youth and women’s rights. She attended both Howard University and Eastern Michigan University to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Technology with a minor in Television/Film Production. With a passion for advocating for underserved youth, Kayla began her career as a Special Education Teacher. For 14 years, she dedicated her service to educating and empowering the exceptional needs community from Ypsilanti, MI to Converse, TX to Inglewood, CA. She also serves as the Program Coordinator for the nonprofit organization Girls With Gifts, Inc. and an ambassador for the nonprofit Dreamchasers, Inc. Kayla has also taken her passion for social justice and inclusion for all students to create the school district focused and community driven program The HOPE Together Project, in which she is the Founder and CEO.
As a wife and mom, Kayla takes pride in being a voice of hope and empowerment for women. She began her hosting career when she became the emcee/host for Sarah Jakes Roberts national Woman Evolve Tour. Through touring with Woman Evolve and hosting both in-person and virtual conferences, Kayla has had the opportunity to speak to and encourage thousands of women from all over the world. Kayla decided to expand her women’s empowerment platform and began hosting a weekly IGTV series entitled Me and My Homegirls, where she speaks to successful women about the challenges we all face on our journey to purpose. She is currently the host of The Undoing w/Kayla Wanakee, which is a talk show on the Black Women’s Network, that’s dedicated to telling the stories of people who have decided to follow their heart and have taken an unconventional route to purpose.
In addition to hosting, Kayla has always had a love for arts and entertainment. She has worked professionally as a dancer, choreographer, producer, and creative director. She is the co-founder and owner of Visions Entertainment Group, LLC. and Naylor Media Group with her husband, Anthony. She is also the “momager” for her son Anthony “Jfreeze” Naylor Jr., who is an actor, dancer, model signed to Osbrink Talent Agency in Hollywood, CA.
